White Ibis (Eudociumus Albus)

One of the most numerous wading birds here in Florida, the White Ibis is also found in great numbers throughout the southeast United States. Its most noticeable characteristics are the red face, long curving red bill, and beautiful blue eyes. Although the adult appears to be white all over, the tips of their wings are black and usually only visible in flight. It is generally a coastal bird that frequents marshy swamps and ponds and can be found as far south as the northern part of South America. All of these Ibises were photographed in Lake County, Florida.
